UPCOMING DATES:
September 23rd -- BOARD MEETING @ Pavilion, 7:45am.

October 11th -- Our Rotary meeting will be held at Pakanasink Elementary School in Circleville. 

October 11th & 12th -- Dictionary Distribution, 9:15am each day.  Pakanasink & Circleville Elementary on 10/11 and EJ Russell & Pine Bush Elementary on 10/12.

October 15th -- Multi-District Foundation Seminar @ Sheraton Crossroads in Mahwah, NJ, 8:30am - 1:30pm.  The club will cover the registration fee.  Please let Lauren know if you are interested in attending.

October 19th -- New Member Mixer @ Jack's Pub (Catlin Gardens) in Slate Hill, 5:30-7:30pm.  All members are invited to attend and bring a potential new member!

November 5th -- RI UN Day.  If you are interested in attending please contact Steve no later than 9/27! 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We hosted another successful Wiffle for Kids.  We had 10 competitive teams, 11 corporate teams, and 100+ people move through the Family Fun Fest.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!  Whether you were a sponsor, helped day-of, solicited donations, or lent the club supplies, we could not have run a successful event without you.  Wolfpack won the competitive tournament for the third straight year and Levitan, Yegidis, & Associates won the Corporate Cup.  Save the date for next year- September 15, 2012!!

 

Lauren presented the idea of a "Flock Your Friend" fundraiser to the club.  For a to be determined donation, a person can sign up to have a flock of flamingos (up to 60 birds) put in someones yard overnight.  Along with the flock, a sign will be put up saying "You've been flocked by Wallkill East" as well as a letter explaining the fundraiser.  While this fundraiser will require a lot of manpower, the club was receptive to it so we will give it a try in October/early November.  Stay tuned for more details!

 
SPEAKER(S):

Dylan Digasso and Evan Chen gave us an overview of projects Interact has completed and projects they plan to work on in the upcoming year.  They had their first meeting of the year last week and 44 kids showed up, many of them freshmen.  They will be participating in the Interact Day to be held on October 22nd.  The club meets every Tuesday at 2:30pm at Pine Bush High School.

Cassie Megna and Nathan Langwitz told the club about their experiences at RYLA back in June.  When they first arrived at RYLA they were told "this will be the best five days of your life."  At the end of their experience they learned so much and truly felt like it had been the best experience.  All the students were divided into different groups- Engineering, Band, Chorus, Broadway, Off-Broadway, Creative Athletics, Hollywood, Media, Graduation, T-Shirt, and Art- and had to work on a different project.  Cassie was in the Media group, which worked on the website:  www.ryla2011.weebly.com.  In addition to working on their projects, students also participated in different activities including square dancing, Olympics, a talent show, and the Invention Convention.
