SPEAKER(S):
Richard Capicchioni shared information about Family Promise of the Mid-Hudson Valley.  Family Promise is a program operating in 41 states to assist homeless families with food, shelter, and employment. Locally, families are hosted at 15 area houses of worship, and they run a day center in Beacon for job seekers and children’s activities.  Many of the homeless parents are employed, and go to their jobs during the day. Mr. Capicchioni gave us some startling statistics on homelessness.  For example, the average age of a homeless person is 9.  The organization is having their annual golf outing on June 18, 2012, at the Powelton Club in Newburgh. Click here for more information about this event, and to register online.  They are also looking for volunteers, and monetary and meal donations. Click here to learn how you can help.
